I always treasure my summertime, but alas. It has this awful habit of sneaking by way too fast for me. Hence me sharing my all-time *favorite* teacher meme. 🤪
I have so much more time in my life when summer hits. Don’t get me wrong, it is still chock full of things my kids need, grocery shopping, Zoo essentials, etc. I never feel like I actually stop moving. But I can do it in sweatpants, at my own pace, and without makeup if I so chose. 😉
Thanks to summer break, I get to swap out lesson planning for actual time to focus on my WRITING!
This summer I was able to write two (YES TWO!) Chapter Books, polish up a few Picture Book manuscripts, complete critiques for my writing partners, as well as keep up with some other writing responsibilities.
When August hits, my time for writing comes to a dramatically s-l-o-w crawl. I am talking SLOTH pace. After a few weeks (or sometimes even months, GULP) it starts to even out and I find my balance.
But for now, I am having to shift my focus to be centered on teaching, while my writing tasks need to take a back seat. Just for now.
This year, I am starting my 15th year of teaching Kindergarten. I won’t say it’s the best grade ever, because each and every grade level is awesome in its own way.
But I CAN say that it is the perfect grade level for me. It is where I am meant to be. It is where I thrive as an educator.
Enjoy a sneak peek of my magical, sloth-tastic classroom for this year! I am beyond thrilled to add some happy faces to it on Thursday!

What a fun and creative classroom! Good luck with the new school year!
What a fun and inviting space you've created! I wish you a magical year with kindergarteners to love and wrangle. I know you'll all have a blast, and I wish you some magical writing times in the midst of kindergarten chaos. :-)
