Inky Updates

✏️ After back to back hurricanes here in sunny Florida, it took awhile to get things to feeling somewhat normal. The noise level of the wind that night was insane. The house shook and rattled. It was a long terrifying night for myself and my children, one I won’t forget anytime soon. The key was to stay calm, so my children stayed calm.

The weather outside the next morning was eerily beautiful as I checked for damage and checked in my with neighbors. Milton took the fence, mangled the fence gate, blew away outside cameras, plants, and roof shingles scattered everywhere. There is some water damage in my daughter’s bedroom.

We were so incredibly lucky that God was with us all night.

A month later, it still seems surreal to drive around my city and still see so much damage, debri and fallen trees everywhere.

I continue to pray for all Floridians who were effected. #FLStrong

✏️ As 2024 slowly approaches its end, I find myself wrapping up a glorious year of a being a GOLD member of the 12x12 Picture Book Challenge.

I would have not been able to participate had it not been for the 2024 GOLD Scholarship Program.

Check out my review here:

12x12 is currently open for entries for their 2025 Scholarship Program…but hurry, the window closes soon!

Monthly Writing Tip 📝

In addition to writing #kidlit I often take time to sink my teeth into my adult projects. I have been working on my novel for several years now, and have been brewing an idea for another.

It’s not easy to switch gears sometimes when writing in different genres, but a valuable writing friend showed me a resource she thought might help.

Ladies and Gentlemen…may I present…

Now, I know what you are all thinking…

Brandy…did you REALLY take off your pants??!

Yep!!!

I sure did!

And let me tell you…I’TS WORKING!!

My family and friends will be the first to tell you how much of an organized freak I can be in my daily life (for the record…I have to be in order to survive! 😉)

But with balancing so many literary projects, I was having a hard time keeping up with that flow during my creative times.

I have taken the last several weeks to really dig deep into my novel and look at it from a different perspective. It’s truly helping me see what has been missing. I am excited for the future of this story once again!
